Maura's Art

I have been involved and worked with ceramics since 2001. My work is primarily wheel thrown but I do enjoy exploring with hand building or altering my wheel thrown creations. I work out of my own home studio and I am a member of ClayHouston.

 

Artist Statement:

 

What mostly attracts me to ceramics is the marriage between three art forms; the actual creation of the the piece - whether it is wheel throwing or hand building-, the glazing and the firing.

'When creating my artwork, I strive to harmonize the relationship between from, function and nature. My pieces are the result of the use of simple organic forms and I usually stay clear from fussy decorations.

​

My pieces are mostly functional by they can also be used decoratively. In either case I hope that it will be an enjoyable and peaceful experience.
